Surgical Study Program as the Instrument for the 74th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University
The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) held a flag ceremony to commemorate the Independence Day on Saturday (17/8/2019) at the Sudirman Campus, Denpasar. This lively event of Indonesian independence has the theme "Healthy Indonesia Towards a Superior Indonesia with the Spirit of Patriotism".
The academic community of FK Unud consisting of lecturers, students and all employees participated in the flag ceremony wearing traditional Balinese clothes. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. I Ketut Suyasa, SpB., SpOT (K) Spinal wearing Balinese traditional clothes is a form of support for the Bali Provincial Government Program while being committed to maintaining cultural values. In commemorating this independence, his party strives to continue to build the spirit of togetherness, kinship, and the spirit of love for the homeland. "The spirit of togetherness, kinship, the spirit of nationalism in order to form superior human resources towards advanced Indonesia," he said.
This year, the Surgical Study program was assigned as the instrument for the 74th Independence Day ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia, consisting of 14 resident doctors who already have their respective duties, including being the commander of the ceremony and raising the red-and-white flag.
The closing ceremony of the 74th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at the Udayana Faculty of Medicine ended with the launching of the book "Get treatment at the Teaching Hospital" as an effort to invite the public to seek treatment at the Udayana University Teaching Hospital. The launching of this book was marked by the handover of the book by the Dean of the Udayana Faculty of Medicine to the Chair of the Senate of the Faculty of Medicine, the Director of the Udayana State University Hospital, and the Coordinator of the Ophthalmology Study Program.
Before the flag ceremony was held, the Faculty of Medicine carried out various activities on Sunday (11/8/2019). These activities, such as a leisurely walk, a running competition titled Medical Health Run, an ornamental bicycle competition, entertainment, and the launching of a tumbler as support for the movement to reduce plastic waste.
Udayana University Chancellor Prof. AA Raka Sudewi accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and other leaders launched the tumbler and invited the entire academic community of FK Unud to use the tumbler as a form of support for the plastic waste reduction movement. The declaration of the use of the tumbler is a form of active role in the success of government programs as well as inviting the public to care about the environment. It is hoped that medical students will not only gain medical knowledge, but will also be able to care about environmental issues.
