Udayana International Medical Summer School 2025: Wanderlearn: A Journey of Discovery in Travel Medicine, Mindfulness, and Balinese Culture
The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, through its Student Executive Board (BEM), is hosting the Udayana International Medical Summer School (UIMSS) 2025, an international program themed "Wanderlearn: A Journey of Discovery in Travel Medicine, Mindfulness, and Balinese Culture." The UIMSS will run for ten days, from August 7th to 16th, 2025, at the Neo Hotel in Denpasar.
The program focuses on medical education, such as travel medicine, combined with Balinese cultural experiences, and is open to international healthcare students. The ten-day program includes lectures, student projects, and various cultural and recreational activities. The goal is to broaden healthcare knowledge, build international connections, and introduce Balinese cultural diversity to prospective international healthcare professionals.
The objective of the 2025 UIMSS (Udayana International Medical Summer School) is to enhance and advance the presence and image of the Faculty of Medicine at the national and international levels, while simultaneously empowering cultural learning through health science teaching aligned with traditional Balinese values. Facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and experience among participants from diverse backgrounds and cultures, build networks and opportunities for future collaboration, and enhance participants' insights and experiences to develop their competencies as future healthcare professionals.
UIMSS 2025 was attended by participants from two countries: Japan and Vietnam. From Japan, there were thirty students and two sensei from the International University of Health and Welfare, six students from Kobe Woman's University, and one student from Asahikawa Medical University. Meanwhile, four students from Hanoi Medical University were present from Vietnam.
The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. In his remarks, Dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes., welcomed all participants of the Udayana International Medical Summer School (UIMSS) 2025 and warmly welcomed the delegations from the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW), Kobe Women's University, Asahikawa Medical University, and Hanoi Medical University. He emphasized that IUHW is a long-standing partner of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, and expressed his hope that this collaboration will continue. He hoped that UIMSS 2025 would become a platform for the exchange of knowledge, culture, and experiences that would benefit prospective healthcare professionals.
UIMSS 2025 was also attended by the Coordinator of the Information Management and Cooperation Unit (UPIKS), Dr. dr. Ida Ayu Ika Wahyuniari, S.Ked., M.Kes., all Undergraduate Study Program Coordinators within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Chair of the Student Executive Board of Udayana University, Steering Committee (SC) UIMSS 2025, Student Representative Council (DPM), all Student Associations (HM), and Semi-Autonomous Bodies (BSO).
