Udayana University Faculty of Medicine Undergraduate Curriculum Revision Workshop
The Undergraduate Medical Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), held a Curriculum Revision Workshop for the Undergraduate Medical Program on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The workshop took place in the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room, 4th Floor, Faculty of Medicine Building, Udayana University, Denpasar.
This workshop was held as an effort to align the curriculum with developments in medical education and the ever-evolving needs of healthcare services. The curriculum revision included rationalizing the principles and basic framework of the curriculum, as well as refining the structure and content of the curriculum to make it more structured, consistent, and systematic in its implementation. This will allow for a more sustainable and focused curriculum monitoring and evaluation process.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K). In his remarks, Prof. Prof. Eka stated that the entire academic community at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) must prepare themselves to face increasing challenges, along with increasing competition in the medical education sector in Bali.
To maintain its excellence and competitiveness, FK Unud continues to focus on improving the quality of its human resources and improving educational facilities and infrastructure. One of the differentiating strategies being developed is strengthening international classes. The learning process in international classes is targeted to be conducted entirely in English, both in the delivery of material by instructors and in the development of learning modules. FK Unud also plans to develop joint degree or double degree programs with partner universities abroad.
Furthermore, Prof. Eka stated that FK Unud is preparing to integrate Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum evaluation into the Academic Information System (SIMAK) by 2027. In accordance with the provisions of Permendikbudristek Number 35, FK Unud will also coordinate through the Deans' Forum to discuss the definitive duration of undergraduate study, including the option of maintaining the current 3.5-year study period or adjusting it to four years.
The presentation session began with Dr. I Made Winarsa Ruma, S.Ked., Ph.D., the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Medical Program, who presented material on the guidelines for changes to the curriculum structure. The presentation was continued by Dr. I Gusti Ayu Harry Sundariyati, S.Ked., MHPE, with the topic "Justification for Changes to the 2026 Curriculum Structure."
The next speaker, Dr. I Made Pramana Dharmatika, S.Ked., MHPE, outlined the planned new curriculum structure. All presentations and discussions were moderated by Dr. dr. Cokorda Agung Wahyu Purnamasidhi, S.Ked., M.Biomed., Sp.PD., FINASIM., FISQua.
Also present at the workshop were the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning, the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit (UP3M) Team, department heads, the curriculum team, odd and even semester block managers, and level coordinators from each year.
The workshop continued with an interactive discussion session addressing various inputs and considerations for improving the curriculum structure. Through this activity, it is hoped that the curriculum of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University's Undergraduate Medical Program will become more adaptive, relevant, and capable of producing competent graduates who are responsive to developments in medical science and the needs of healthcare services.
