“Envisioning Medical Wellness: The Integration of Anti-Aging, Nutrigenomics, Bioenergy & Holistic Healing”
The Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, hosted a guest lecture on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine Building, Denpasar. The event was themed “Envisioning Medical Wellness: The Integration of Anti-Aging, Nutrigenomics, Bioenergy & Holistic Healing.” It aimed to broaden students' insights into the evolution of biomedical approaches supporting health, the prevention of aging processes, and the enhancement of quality of life.
The guest lecture featured three (3) expert speakers:
1. Prof. Dr. dr. Wimpie I. Pangkahila, Sp.And., Subsp.-SAAM, presenting on “Cellular Longevity & Anti-Aging Medicine: Strategies to Slow Down Biological Aging.” His presentation covered the concepts of longevity and the aging process from a biological perspective, as well as developments in anti-aging medicine regarding the factors that maintain bodily functions. The material helped students understand that aging is not merely a matter of increasing chronological age but also involves cellular and physiological changes influenced by various health and lifestyle factors.
2. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Hariyasa Sanjaya, Sp.OG, Subsp.K.Fm., MARS, presenting on “Biofield Medicine & Mind-Body Connection: A Scientific Bridge between Spiritual Energy and Physical Health.” This session explored the links between psychological states, physiological bodily responses, and the mind-body connection within an integrative health approach. The discussion offered students a broader perspective on the interactions between various factors that influence an individual's health status and quality of life.
3. Dr. dr. Gde Ngurah Indraguna Pinatih, M.Sc., Sp.GK(K), presenting on “The Molecular Foundation of Medical Wellness: Nutrigenomics and Epigenetics in Health Optimization.” In the presentation, the speakers discussed the concepts of nutrigenomics and epigenetics as crucial elements in understanding how nutritional components and environmental factors interact with biological systems at the molecular level. This approach sheds light on the role of gene expression regulation in the body's response to nutrient intake and its implications for health maintenance. The discussion on nutrigenomics offered students the perspective that an individual's response to food and nutrients can be influenced by their biological and genetic characteristics. Meanwhile, the epigenetic aspect broadened understanding of how various external factors can lead to changes in gene regulation without altering the underlying DNA sequence. Both concepts serve as a vital foundation for developing health approaches that are more personalized and grounded in an understanding of biological mechanisms.
The event began with opening remarks from the Organizing Committee Chair, Dr. dr. Ida Ayu Dewi Wiryanthini, S.Ked., M.Biomed., and was officially opened by the Acting Coordinator of the Master of Biomedical Science Study Program, Dr. dr. Dewa Ayu Agus Sri Laksemi, S.Ked., M.Sc. In her remarks, the Acting Coordinator expressed her gratitude to the speakers for dedicating their time and sharing their expertise. This guest lecture was designed to connect students with experts specializing in anti-aging medicine and integrative health approaches.
Each session was followed by a discussion, giving students the opportunity to delve deeper into the material, ask questions, and examine the concepts presented by the speakers. Interactions during the event enabled students to gain a more comprehensive understanding of developments in medical wellness, particularly regarding healthy aging, anti-aging medicine, and integrative health approaches.
This guest lecture serves to strengthen the learning process within the Master of Biomedical Science Study Program by involving experts with specific experience and knowledge in the health sector. Discussions on cellular longevity, anti-aging medicine, biofield medicine, and the mind-body connection enriched the students' perspectives on evolving health paradigms—paradigms that increasingly emphasize health promotion, prevention, the maintenance of bodily functions, and the enhancement of quality of life. Through this event, it is hoped that Master of Biomedical Science students at the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine will gain broader insight into the interdisciplinary development of health sciences and develop the ability to critically analyze various health approaches from a biomedical perspective. The event is also expected to support the development of learning that is more applicable and responsive to scientific advancements and societal needs.
