BASIC SURGICAL SKILL FOR GENERAL PRACTITIONER DENPASAR-BALI

The Basic Surgical Skill Course (BSS) is a basic surgical procedure skill training which is an essential competency area that every doctor who will perform services in the field of surgery, both minor and major surgery, must possess. This training is an international standard training method that is applied to provide basic surgical skills competencies to doctors. Trainees can use the competencies acquired during the training to develop their knowledge and skills in dealing with trauma and non-trauma patients, to the best possible standard.

On October 8, 2019, the BSS for GP training was held at Sanglah Hospital Denpasar Bali. This training was attended by 55 participants from all over Indonesia. The materials provided in this training include aseptic and antiseptic technique, hand washing and surgical scrubbing, hand glowing and gowning . Participants in this training are also taught how to hold surgical instruments properly (handling instruments) and how to perform proper sewing techniques (suturing and knot tying) . The material that is no less exciting is incision and drainage , necrotomy and debridement technique .

The material for the 2019 BSS for GP came from several institutions in Indonesia. The instructors from Bali including dr. I Gede Budhi Setiawan, Sp.B(K)Onk, dr. IGAB Krisna Wibawa, Sp.B(K)V, dr. Ida Bagus Budiarta, Sp.B(K)V, dr. I Komang Weka, Sp.B and dr. Made Agus Dwianthara Sueta, Sp.B-KBD. Meanwhile, instructors from outside Bali include dr. Imam Sofii, Sp.B-KBD, dr. IGB Andria Hari Astawa, Sp.B, Sp.BA (K), dr. Ahan Gifhari, Sp.B(K)V and dr. Arif Winata, Sp.B(K)Onk.

One of the participants from Bali, dr. Shannen said that this training was very useful, with the instructors being very communicative so that the delivery of the material was very good and easy to understand. Although the training time is considered short, this training is very useful to increase skills as a doctor. At the end of the event, the training participants received feedback and training certificates.
