Soft Skills Training for New Students in the Specialist and Subspecialist Study Programs of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Odd Semester 2025/2026 Academic Year


Soft skills training for new students in the Specialist and Subspecialist Study Programs of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Odd Semester 2025/2026 Academic Year was held over two days, August 15th and 19th, 2025, at the Bisma Hall, Fifth Floor, Polyclinic, Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital. All 202 new students in the Specialist and Subspecialist Study Programs enthusiastically participated in the training. The event was organized by the Professional Education Implementation Coordination Unit (KP3) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. The first day's event coordinators were Dr. dr. I Wayan Juli Semadi, Sp.PA(K) and Dr. dr. Ni Putu Ekawati, Sp.PA. The second day's event coordinator was Dr. dr. The training was led by Dr. Dyah Kanya Wati, Sp.A(K) and Dr. dr. Ni Made Renny Anggreni Rena, Sp.PD-KHOM-FINASIM. The goal of this training activity was to improve essential non-technical skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. It is hoped that students of the Specialist Study Program will be more effective in providing patient care, collaborating with other medical teams, and facing the challenges of the complex world of work in both medical and non-medical fields.


On the first day, the event began with an opening remarks by the Head of the Professional Education Implementation Coordination Unit (KP3), Dr. dr. Dyah Kanya Wati, Sp.A(K). This was followed by presentations by the outstanding presenters. The material was delivered through lecture and discussion methods, including: The Philosophy of Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (Prof. Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes); Good Learner and Clinician (Dr. dr. IGP Suka Aryana, Sp.PD-KGer-FINASIM); Doctor Professionalism (Dr. dr. Dyah Kanya Wati, Sp.A(K)); Philosophy of Prof. dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital (Ken Wirianti, SE, MRM.); Good Presentation (Dr. dr. Ni Made Renny Anggreni Rena, Sp.PD-KHOM-FINASIM); and Principle of Scientific Writing (Prof. Dr. dr. Gede Raka Widiana, Sp.PD-KGH). In between the presentation of the material, the Specialist Study Program students were invited to do stretching accompanied by uplifting music to increase their enthusiasm and focus in listening to the material. The first day's activities ended with group division and Role Play topics. The Role Play topics were chosen based on frequently occurring cases: (1) national seminar committee: scheduling conflicts between clinical duties and committee meetings; (2) covert bullying in the duty room: dealing with seniors who assign disproportionate tasks; (3) providing services in front of hospital patients and their families; the dilemma between working in a service team and a scientific schedule. These topics were chosen based on real-life problems in the Specialist Study Program education world.


On the second day, the training activities began with materials: Rules of Procedure during the Specialist and Subspecialist Study Program Education Period at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital / Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (Dr. Kunthi Yulianti, Sp.KF); The Role of BPJS in Supporting Financing and Services in Hospitals (Nyoman Wiwiek Yuliadewi); Student Registration in the Kemdikti Sainstek Registration System (Made Arsa Suyadnya); and Socialization of Bullying Guidelines and Technical Guidelines at Udayana University and Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital. Ngoerah (Prof. Dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D.). The second day of activities included role-play presentations from each group based on their assigned topics. Each group fully engaged in their role-play presentations and provided effective solutions to each problem. This demonstrated that all new students from the Specialist and Subspecialist Study Programs had grasped the material presented during the soft skills training and were able to put it into practice effectively. A representative from the Specialist Study Program also shared her impressions of the soft skills training, stating that the material was very useful, the activities ran smoothly, and the facilities were comfortable.


At the closing of the second day, the Head of the Professional Education Implementation Coordination Unit (KP3), Dr. dr. Dyah Kanya Wati, Sp.A(K), announced the best group of participants and congratulated all participants on their successful completion. Participants received soft skills training certificates and commendations, which can be used as a prerequisite for pursuing a Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, or Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. General Hospital. Ngoerah and Network Hospital. In addition, the Head of KP3 also advised students to continue improving their learning abilities and discipline during their education and to prepare prerequisite documents for education such as STR, STR-P, and SIPP to be uploaded to the electronic system at Prof. dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital. This training activity concluded with a group photo of all new students of the Specialist and Subspecialist Study Programs.
